Oriental Body BalanceOriental Body Balance

Good Health is our greatest gift and Something we all want to achieve and Maintain. Western medicine while excellent in treating many life threatening Diseases, and essential surgical intervention, can fall short of understanding or effectively treating many chronic diseases and degeneration.

Chinese Medicine has a unique view of the whole person as an energetic network of interconnecting channels and organs and so it is Increasingly being recognised as one of the great resources for promoting health and treating disease .

Chinese medicine is a holistic system of medicine which originated in China at least 4,000 years ago. Over the centuries it has Spread from its origins and can now be found worldwide. It provides the basic philosophical foundation for related medical systems in Countries such as Korea, Japan and Vietnam, hence the combined term Oriental Medicine.

Oriental Body Balance combines traditional Oriental Medicine with Western researched techniques.

Oriental Body Balance is a systemic method of assessing the body holistically to find structural, organ, nutritional, emotional and energy imbalances.

Traditional Chinese techniques and 5 elements, Yin Yang theory are used to assist diagnosis, and then to treat the condition.

During a Oriental Body Balance Session you will remain fully clothed, so it is best to wear comfortable non bulky trousers (e.g. jogging bottoms) and a cotton T-shirt.

To gain information from the body and to stimulate the bodies awareness of its imbalances, a series of manual muscle tests will be carried out. The results of the tests will determine what additional treatment may be appropriate for your specific needs.

Oriental Body Balance is not a relaxation therapy, although some of the techniques used are very relaxing, some Oriental Body Balance techniques may feel uncomfortable initially.

Oriental Body Balance works gently with the body, unlike other medical techniques which may force the body to make a correction. Some techniques used in OBB are as follows:-

Techniques

Complementary Medicine

Acupressure: stimulation of acupuncture points using fingers, thumbs and elbows, promoting correct flow of Qi

Acupuncture: fine sterile needles are inserted into specific points around the body, to stimulate the flow of Qi and Blood. Used for over 3000 years in China as a major part of their primary and secondary health care system. It is used for the prevention and treatment of diseases, for pain relief and as an anaesthetic in surgery.

Anmo Fu: oil based deep massage on abdomen. Often muscle weakness, body and emotional disorders are caused by internal organ dysfunction. This can be caused by torsions in the abdomen affecting normal peristaltic, blood and body fluid movements.

Cupping and moxibustion: Glass jars are used as an aid to massage. By creating a vacuum the jars can be applied to the body where they stimulate blood and body fluid movement, muscular stimulation and internal organ function. Burning a herb over particular acupuncture points and injury sites stimulates body functions and immune system response.

Sacral -Cranial Balancing: A gentle hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physical body system. Using soft touch, restrictions in this system can be released to improve function of the central nervous system.

Tuina: Chinese physical therapy. Traditional Oriental Massage techniques that enhance muscle function, move blood and body fluid. Joint mobilisation, for ligament balance and correct muscle function. Dry clothed massage, can also be given with oils.

Qi Gung Therapy: Sometimes the body cannot let go of injuries, trauma and internal problems by hands on therapy only (massage, mobilisation and even acupuncture). Qi Gung can be applied to the body to release muscle and ligament spasm, bone torsions and organ dysfunction.

Food intolerance testing: Foods, additives and external allergens. Tested t hrough manual neurological feedback giving instant results.

Nutritional Supplements: can also be tested and prescribed for your specific needs.
