KORE Therapy (Oriental Body Balance) is a totally integrated treatment system which has taken the best researched techniques of the modern western world and put them together with proven ancient oriental practices to provide a complete and truly holistic approach to restoring and maintaining good health.
Oriental Medicine has a unique view of the whole person as an energetic network of interconnecting channels and organs and so it is Increasingly being recognised as one of the great resources for promoting health and treating disease.
KORE Therapy is a systemic method of assessing the body holistically to find structural, organ, nutritional emotional and energy imbalances. Assessment includes Questions and Answers; Muscle testing; Pulse and Tongue; Spine and joint evaluation, Palpation; Food intolerance testing etc.
During a Session you will remain fully clothed, so it is best to wear comfortable non bulky trousers(e.g. jogging bottoms) and a cotton T-shirt.
To gain information from the body and to stimulate the bodies awareness of its imbalances, a series of manual muscle tests will be carried out. The results of the tests will determine what additional treatment may be appropriate for your specific needs.
KORE Therapy is not a relaxation therapy, although some of the techniques used are very relaxing, some techniques may feel uncomfortable initially.
KORE Therapy works gently with the body, unlike some other complementary medical techniques which may force the body to make a correction.
Some of the techniques used in KORE Therapy are listed below.
Techniques used by Heather Dawn
Complementary Medicine Techniques
Acupressure: stimulation of acupuncture points using fingers, thumbs and elbows, promoting correct flow of Qi
Acupuncture: fine sterile needles are inserted into specific points around the body, to stimulate the flow of Qi and Blood. Used for over 3000 years in China as a major part of their primary and secondary health care system. It is used for the prevention and treatment of diseases, for pain relief and as an anaesthetic in surgery.
Anmo Fu: oil based deep massage on abdomen. Often muscle weakness, body and emotional disorders are caused by internal organ dysfunction. This can be caused by torsions in the abdomen affecting normal peristaltic, blood and body fluid movements.
Chi NeiTsang: Abdominal Detox Massage. Chi Nei Tsang is a Chinese term for an internal organ Chi massage.
In the West it is known as the second brain, If this area is knotted up the whole energy of the body is blocked. When this occurs all the vital energy functions strain, slowly weakening the internal organs, decreasing energy and creating ill health.
Chi Nei Tsang eliminates toxins in the gastrointestinal tract and promotes lymphatic drainage.
Cupping and Moxibustion: Glass jars are used as an aid to massage. By creating a vacuum the jars can be applied to the body where they stimulate blood and body fluid movement, muscular stimulation and internal organ function. Burning a herb over particular acupuncture points and injury sites stimulates body functions and immune system response.
Sacral -Cranial Balancing: A gentle hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physical body system. Using soft touch, restrictions in this system can be released to improve function of the central nervous system.
Tuina - Chinese physical therapy: Traditional Oriental Massage techniques that enhance muscle function, move blood and body fluid. Joint mobilisation, for ligament balance and correct muscle function. Dry clothed massage, can also be given with oils.
Qi Gung Therapy: Sometimes the body cannot let go of injuries, trauma and internal problems by hands on therapy only (massage, mobilisation and even acupuncture). Qi Gung can be applied to the body to release muscle and ligament spasm, bone torsions and organ dysfunction.
Food intolerance testing: Foods, additives and external allergens. Tested through manual neurological feedback giving instant results.
Nutritional Supplements: can be prescribed for your specific needs.
Holistic and Supportive Therapy Techniques
Once a course of KORE Therapy has been successfully completed we recommend a regular MOT to keep the body on track. Many of our clients also enjoy attending regular sessions for their general well-being and with this in mind various Holistic Treatments are available at the Clinic. These methods may also be incorporated into your KORE programme. These include:-
Massage: Various forms of massage are practiced in the clinic and these may be combined to provide the most appropriate protocol for your needs.
Tuina: is Chinese physical therapy, usually performed over clothing but can be performed with oil. Tuina Utilises a steady motion through the body while applying pressure, motion and mobilisation to the muscles and joints.
Thai Massage: will incorporate deep pressure using hands, arms and elbows. A variety of stretches will also be used to release deep tension.
Swedish Massage: utilises a variety of long and short movements at varying depths.
Relaxation Massage: is performed slower and superficial to induce a pure state of perfect relaxation.
Aromatherapy: the art and science of using Essences/Essential oils extracted from plants to enhance Health.
Muscular, Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, Skin and Stress related conditions are just some of the areas which aromatherapy has shown to be successful.
Used mostly in massage, but can also enter the body via other means such as, Baths, Inhalations, compresses and Vaporization.
During the past 100 years or so, synthetic chemicals have largely superseded Essences/Essential oils in medicine, However, the recent revival of aromatherapy has made clear the subtle, therapeutic properties of essences produced naturally by the plant.
The word aromatherapy suggests that it is a form of healing which works exclusively through our sense of smell, and on the emotions, although this does play a vital role in aromatherapy the process does not end there, for apart from its scent, each essence has an individual combination of constituents which interact with the body's chemistry in a direct manner, which then in turn affects organs or systems of the whole.
Blends can be produced to enhance any form of oil massage and/or mixed into creams or other bases for home application.
Thai Foot Massage: The foot supports the whole of our structure and influences every movement we make through the sacrum, so tension in the feet can lead to jamming elsewhere in the body.
Thai foot massage releases the joints and tissues of the foot and lower leg. Covering reflex points on the feet to influence the organs and physical and energetic functions of the body.
This is a must for any regular maintenance programme!
Thai Herbal Compress: Thai Herbal compresses are traditionally used as a part of Thai massage.
Thai herbs are wrapped in a muslin cloth and then steamed to release the potent qualities of the herbs. These hot herbal compresses known as prakhop are then systematically pressed and moved over the body providing the same stimulation as acupressure and are used to stimulate tender or sensitive areas that cannot be massaged directly totally Relaxing every muscle and joint.
Crystal Healing Therapy: is a system of using Crystals in conjunction with the bodies vital energy to harmonise the whole and stimulate the bodies ability to self heal.
Great numbers of crystals exist beneath the earths crust. Crystals flow with and have flowing through them a quality that is similar to electricity and to magnetism, but is neither. Like electricity and magnetism, crystal energy is a natural force, and it is this energy, individual to each crystal, which is utilised during a crystal treatment.
Vital energy exists throughout and around our physical bodies, as we learn to accept this part of our anatomy as another system of the body, we learn to understand the necessity to maintain this system.
Just as we need our hormones to be balanced, our blood to flow freely, and our lymphatic system to cleanse, so our vital energy has a need to do the same.
Crystal energy vibrates in harmony with that vital energy of our bodies, and so as healing tools help activate and revitalise this system.
Crystals are used in a variety of ways, by placing crystals on or near the body, also hand held by the practitioner. During a crystal treatment certain sensations may be experienced, tingling, pins and needles, hot and cold are some of these.
Healing and Reiki: Natural methods of promoting and/or improving well being. Treatments are performed fully clothed and involve no manipulation so are suitable for anyone.
Reiki s a Japanese system of Healing, rediscovered in the 1920’s by Dr Usui. The word Reiki is pronounced " Ray - Key ". Rei, = " Universal " Ki, = "Vital life force" So Reiki simply means " Universal life force "
Reiki is a powerful natural system, which unlocks the inner flow of vital energy within the sender and the receiver. The use of Reiki can Synchronise and energise vital meridians and acupuncture points of the body, while gently aligning and balancing the major energy or Chakra centers in the physical and finer bodies, stimulating the bodies natural healing ability and working wherever it is needed most.
Healing is a truly natural method of promoting and/or mproving well being by assisting the natural healing resources of the mind and body to recover their former functions.
There is abundant evidence that healing quickly reduces the effects of shock, whether the shock is due to accident, surgery, emotional or physical trauma, Healing has been known and used for thousands of years It is an energy which flows between the Healer and the client. It has been studied Scientifically and is capable of being measured. Healing can be given to specific areas of dis-ease or as a full body treatment by placing the hands on or near the body.
